Senior Electrical Engineer: Hydrogen & Zero Emission Technology

Location: Sheffield (Relocation support available)

Our client is one of the UK’s fastest growing clean technology businesses, developing innovative energy solutions that are helping to decarbonise industries including construction, infrastructure, events and transport.

Following significant investment and continued growth, they are expanding their Research & Development team and are looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the development of cutting edge hydrogen power systems.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly innovative engineering environment where you’ll work alongside some of the industry’s brightest minds, helping develop technology that will shape the future of sustainable energy.

Working within a multidisciplinary R&D team, you’ll act as a technical authority, leading the development of advanced electrical systems from concept through to validation.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll be applying first-principles engineering to solve challenging technical problems, whilst supporting the development of world-leading hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering activities across research and development projects.
  • Develop innovative electrical engineering solutions using first-principles engineering.
  • Design, analyse and validate electrical power systems.
  • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Work closely with mechanical and controls engineers to develop integrated solutions.
  • Support the development of LV, MV and HV electrical systems.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals and engineering concepts.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and directives.
  • Support prototype development, testing and product validation.
  • Drive continuous technical improvement and innovation across new product development.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge with the ability to solve complex engineering problems from first principles.
  • Around 10 years’ experience within electrical engineering, research & development or advanced product development.
  • Experience designing or developing LV, MV or HV electrical power systems.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical development activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts.
  • Passion for renewable energy, hydrogen technology or zero-emission engineering.

Desirable Experience

  • First Class Degree, PhD or equivalent.
  • 10 years industry experience
  • Knowledge of hydrogen fuel cell technology.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), or working towards Chartered status.
  • Experience working within highly regulated engineering environments.
  • Experience working across electrical, mechanical and control system disciplines.
